Sugar is on average twice as expensive here in the U.S. as it is in
other countries because of multiple policies designed to support
domestic sugar producers. Not only are sugar imports taxed, but the
amount of sugar produced domestically is capped, with extra sugar
forced to be stored or destroyed!
