Navigating colleges’ information systems can be a tedious task for
students, so at multiple schools across the country, students have
taken matters into their own hands. They have created smartphone apps
that allow for easier searching of class schedules, notifications of
open classes, and better campus navigation. Some administrators have
taken well to these efforts and even incorporated them into official
systems, but others have strongly opposed the new apps and sent cease
and desist letters.
