Government gives out billions in erroneous higher education credits While you’re struggling to pay for college, billions worth in funds intended to help students may actually be going to people who are not eligible. According to a Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration report, over “3.6 million taxpayers received more than $5.6 billion in potentially erroneous credits.”
