Federal youth wage offers opportunity for students, but states not buying in

Research has consistently shown that increases in the minimum wage disproportionately harm young workers by lessening their ability to gain much needed work experience and thus their long-term economic mobility. Federal law has offered an option for employers to give young people a chance by paying less than the Federal minimum wage, however state laws have negated this option and the unemployment rates in these states reflect this decision.
