UC system: Professors shouldn’t say “America is a land of opportunity” The College Fix reports that faculty leaders were given a list of common phrases to avoid when discussing American life and racial issues so as to avoid “microaggressions” – a purported form of subconscious racism. Faculty were told to avoid statements that implied equal opportunity for all races or promoted the idea of color blindness – meaning that race is no longer a factor in making judgments, which is ironic since that was a stated goal of Dr. Martin Luther King.
